Our team took a much needed break after the end of fall quarter. For the majority of winter break we focused on ourselves, family, and our jobs. Near the end of winter break we had a team meeting where we were notified that our actress has dropped the project due to a scheduling conflict. Naturally, I got a little worried for all the time I spent last quarter working on the costume. Luckily, we were able to find a new actress relatively quickly, so we were able to keep our shoots scheduled for week 2. I was concerned about if the new actress would still fit in the costume I made, so I set up a fitting Tuesday afternoon. The costume fit like a glove, which was so relieving!

Our shoot days were Monday and Tuesday, everything went tremendously smooth. The costume looked great and moved well on the actress, which of course made me happy. We used practical lighting to help with the integration of the CG FX into the live action shots. We used a pink LED light to shine light from her wings onto her back, and a yellow LED light to shine light from the magic trail onto her. For most of the shoot, I acted as the wig light holder, which was so fun! Now onto the most fun part of the project: POST-PRODUCTION.

The next step for me this quarter is TEXTURING. At the end of last quarter, we decided to use the XR stage as a blue screen. We will be rendering our background plates in Houdini, which gives us more time for our environment to be built and made more realistic. My first step is to create a call-out sheet with a list of the various materials that need to be completed and gather references for each of those materials. The call-out is due January 19th. I am hoping to complete this a few days early to hopefully get a head start on the texturing.
