On Tuesday I met with Bella Jeffers, the director, to read through the script and discuss the shots that need VFX. There are 2 main VFX shots, and a few side shots that will have a bluescreen portion. The first shot involves the main character lying on the ground-- one version without her moss costume on, one version with her wearing the costume. This shot requires a transition from her without her costume, to with. A compositor will need to make it look like some grass is growing over her before transitioning to the version with the costume on. The second shot is once again the character laying on the ground, now fully in costume, and the ground engulfs her. We have a tool made by an alumni that will be used to create a animated CG asset that will be rendered out separately, then composited onto the main character, making her disappear. Finally, the characters foot breaks off at one point during the film and we have a blue ballet shoe that will be on this broken foot so that it can be keyed out and made to look as though she's missing a foot.
Live action filming is this weekend. I will be on set to ensure that everything goes smoothly and is filmed in a way that aids the compositor.
